QUALITY ASSURANCE OVERVIEW
KTC includes Quality Control activities into each Project Work Plan. Quality control activities are those that are focused on the overall quality of the deliverable being produced or services being provided. Quality control is the responsibility of the KTC project manager and the specific person responsible for a deliverable or service.
KTC focuses on quality assurance through prevention of defects rather than quality control through detection of defects. In other words, our goal is to move from “fixing the problem” to “fixing the cause.” To achieve that goal, KTC employs a variety of quality control activities, which are dependent on the type of project or task undertaken or the service being provided. Some of the more common QC methods and activities we propose are:
REVIEWS
In an effort to identify and correct problems as early as possible, KTC conducts deliverable reviews, peer reviews, technical reviews, code reviews, management reviews to check status and the state of project deliverables. These are formal reviews scheduled at key project milestones.
STANDARDS AND METHODS
KTC follows established procedures for configuration management, change management, risk management, issue management, version control, and release management. Clearly defined management controls ensure that all team members (Government and contractor) are working from the same set of standards and procedures. This reduces risk, minimize sconfusion, and improves overall product quality.
TESTING
KTC conducts a series of testing cycles independently and in conjunction with the ORM team.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEYS
KTC conducts customer satisfaction surveys at least quarterly to measure and assure ongoing satisfaction with our program performance.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITS
KTC also uses quality audits to identify lessons learned to determine how to make things better for a project. Audits are about learning and sharing of information. Quality audits are formal reviews of what’s been completed within a project, what’s worked, and what didn’t work. The end result of the audit is to improve performance for the current project, other projects, or the entire organization. We will include audits at key intervals within the project schedule or they will be held without warning. Auditing is primarily a managerial process where we use various types to evaluate overall project performance for conformance to policy.
